There is inadequate health facilities and unhygienic living condition in Nepal. Gender dimension pose a challenges towards ensuring health for women and girl child. The patriarchal system of the society, where women have little access to social resources including health and decision making power, high level of illiteracy are the major cause behind the poor health condition among women in Nepal.
10 percent of 13 million women suffered from uterine prolapse. While uterine prolapse affects women around the world, researchers find its prevalence and severity among Nepalese women to be particularly high. In comparison to American women who experience uterine prolapse at the median age of 61 post-menopause, Nepalese women increasingly experience it in their 20s and 30s as a result of socio-cultural factors stemming from gender inequality.

Uterine prolapse occurs at a younger age among Nepalese women due to socio-cultural factors, gender inequality, limited access to healthcare, and lack of awareness.
Cervical Cancer

Remote Area Challenges
Uterine cancer in remote areas often goes undiagnosed and untreated due to shame, fear, lack of access to medical care, and financial constraints.
Key Challenges
Limited healthcare facilities, unhygienic living conditions, patriarchal social structures, and low literacy levels hinder women’s access to healthcare and decision-making power.
Our Intervention
Being Youth has been organizing 2–3 free women health camps in underserved communities in Nepal. These camps aim to improve women’s health by providing prevention strategies, health assessments, referrals to hospitals for surgical needs, and reducing health risks.
Through these initiatives, we strive to create accessible healthcare opportunities that support women in maintaining their health with dignity, awareness, and proper medical support.
